Next Generation Network (NGN) - is a service oriented network. By separating services from call control and call control from the bearer network, NGN maintains relatively independent service architecture.

As a key component of the NGN architecture, the UA5000 provides Voice over IP (VoIP) service and broadband access service. The UA5000 can realize the multiservice AG solution, to provide large capacity, high bit rate and high quality services integrating data, video, voice and multi-media.

Triple Play - For many telecommunication companies, triple play represents mass-market opportunity with high revenue potential. The key to the success of triple play's mass deployment is the fact that it enables a scalable network with low CAPEX and OPEX. This ability relies on IP technology, because only IP can support massive multicast capabilities, and more and more next generation services are based on IP. Many operators are looking at the opportunity to move towards an IP/Ethernet-centric solution. Huawei SmartAX IPDSLAM can support triple play application through an internal BRAS or an external BRAS to meet different operators' requirement.

The figure shows the triple play application through the built-in ISU. It is suitable for scenarios where a built-in ISU is required. The built-in ISU acts as the service gateway of triple play to manage the users of PPPoE Internet access, VoIP and BTV services at the same time. It selects services based on the terminal type:

• PC uses PPPoE access
• Integrated Access Device (IAD) and Set Top Box (STB) use DHCP access

The IAD and STB need to support DHCP option60. Based on the option60 domain, the built-in ISU assigns IP addresses at different network segments to the two types of terminals. It also uses different user management strategies accordingly, including QoS and bandwidth control strategies.

Broad Band Loop Carrier Solutions - With the increase in the demands of telecommunication services, Broadband Loop Carrier (BLC), due to its large capacity, high bit rate and high quality, is becoming increasingly favored in the transmission of data, video, voice and multi-media integrated services for its large capacity, high bit rate, and high quality. The access layer, as the bridge between the subscribers and the telecommunication networks, needs to meet tremendous service demands. Currently, there are many network solutions for the access layer. Among these solutions, the criteria for selecting an optimal solution include reduction of Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and Operational Expenditure (OPEX), capitalization of the investment, and speed of the service provisioning.

The Huawei UA5000 Universal Access Unit allows you to construct an access network that keeps pace with technological advances in fiber access networks, broadband networks and the evolution of Next Generation Network (NGN).

Optical Networks - As a world-leading vendor for optical networking total solutions, Huawei Technologies has developed, designed, manufactured and marketed a wide range of OptiX series of optical network products, ranked Top 4 in 2003 global ON market and No.1 in Asia-Pacific ON market in the past years ( by RHK) . By the end of Year 2003, more than 200,000 sets of OptiX equipment have been deployed on networks world-wide, they are now efficiently boosting and creating profits for telecom incumbent operators. In the past years, we have provided our clients with world-class successful solutions for xLH-DWDM, MSTP, OCS, NG-SDH, NG-SONET, Network Management System in more than 50 countries or regions including China, France, Germany, Spain, USA, Russia, India, Brazil, Mexico, Korea, Hongkong and so on.

Switching Network - One of the main products that Huawei has developed is the C&C08 switching system. After 15 years of development, C&C08 has widely been used as toll exchange, tandem exchange, gateway exchange, and local exchange. According a report by Dittberner (a global telecommunications consulting company), by the now, C&C08 had widely been used in more than 50 countries and total worldwide application had reach 160M ports. Huawei has deployed 20 million ports in 2004, taking 32% of the market share of globally installed ports from 2001 to 2004, and ranking No.1 in the world. Dittberner's 2004 annual report revealed that with a market share of 32%, Huawei ranks No.1 in the global market. By the end of 2004, over 160 million ports have been deployed into over 52 countries or areas by over 150 operators.

Video Conferencing - Nowadays, more and more companies are deploying their Intranet over broadband IP network, and expecting a convergence communication solution including video, audio and data collaboration, which could be used in business meeting between distributed branch offices, as well as the external partners, suppliers and customers.
